Hyundai has unveiled the all-new Hyundai Ioniq V at the 2026 Beijing Motor Show, introducing a China-specific electric sedan. Despite sharing its naming convention with the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Ioniq V is an entirely different vehicle, built on a new platform with distinct design and technology.
Positioned as a fastback-style sedan rather than an SUV, the Ioniq V showcases Hyundai’s new “Origin” design language, inspired by the earlier Hyundai Venus Concept. The exterior features sharp surfacing, frameless doors, and a sleek sloping roofline, closely mirroring the concept’s futuristic aesthetic.
Measuring 4,900mm in length with a 2,900mm wheelbase, the Ioniq V sits firmly in the mid-size segment, with a strong emphasis on interior space—particularly for rear passengers.

Inside, the cabin adopts a lounge-like layout centered around a massive 27-inch ultra-thin 4K panoramic display. A head-up display projects key driving information directly into the driver’s field of view, while ambient lighting and a wraparound design enhance the premium feel.
On the technology front, the Ioniq V integrates an advanced AI assistant powered by ByteDance’s Doubao AI, running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. This system enables voice-based control over various vehicle functions, highlighting Hyundai’s push toward software-defined mobility.

The long-range variant is claimed to deliver over 600km of range under the CLTC cycle and features an 800-volt electrical architecture for faster charging. Hyundai has also collaborated with major Chinese tech and battery firms, including CATL and Momenta, to localize and enhance the vehicle’s capabilities.
The Ioniq V is the first dedicated Ioniq model tailored specifically for China and signals the beginning of a broader expansion plan, with Hyundai aiming to introduce 20 new electrified models in the market over the next five years.

While global availability remains unconfirmed, Hyundai has indicated that expansion into other markets will depend on the model’s performance in China.
